Bethany Beach to get a Caribbean flair this weekend at Mango’s

The cooler nights of December are going to give way to a tropical breeze this weekend, with the Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation’s (QRCF) annual Caribbean Christmas event at Mango’s in downtown Bethany Beach on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The event this year will benefit Contractors for a Cause, a charitable group comprising local contractors, and Justin’s Beach House, a respite home in Bethany Beach for families affected by cancer.

“We are honored to once again be the recipients of the QRCF’s Caribbean Christmas,” said Mary Ellen Nantais, the founder of Justin’s Beach House. “QRCF has always been behind Justin’s Beach House in every event we’ve had, and was instrumental in the building of Justin’s Beach House.

“‘Community’ is the basis of QRCF, and its efforts in helping Justin’s Beach House once again is very much appreciated by all our board members and the families we serve, and shows the community of Bethany Beach and surrounding areas the great work they do.”

The Caribbean Christmas event will run from 7 to 11 p.m. and will include live and silent auctions (featuring items donated by local artists and businesses), raffles and a photo booth. There will also be live music performed by local band Electric Velvet.

Keep a healthy appetite for the evening, as many local restaurants will be providing food samples and beverages are promised to be flowing all night. The dress is “island casual.”

The cost of tickets is $60 per person, or $100 for a pair. Tickets may be purchased online at, or in person at Cottage Café and Beach Liquors. Those attending must be 21 or older.
