Mary ‘Jane’ Emrick, 91
Mary “Jane” Emrick, 91, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Camp Springs, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at her home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018. She was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on Dec. 18, 1926, daughter of the late Melvin H. Kah and the late Julia M. (Brands) Kah.
Emrick and her beloved husband, Jonathan, retired to southern Delaware because of their love of the beach. She was a member of the AARP Choir, the Red Hat Society and the Homemakers Club, and a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Emrick enjoyed cooking, baking, birdwatching, reading and cross-stitching. She loved having her children and grandchildren around, which brought her a sense of joy. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom and grandma with a larger-than-life personality and as a strong woman with a quick wit.
In addition to her parents, Emrick was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jonathan E. Emrick, in 2016; a sister, Betty A. Kah; and a son-in-law, John Renfroe III. She is survived by her five children, Rebecca S. Renfroe of Mansfield, Texas, Stephen D. Emrick and his wife, Donna, of Virginia Beach, Va., Elizabeth E. Martin and her husband, Tom, of Frankford, Del., Mary K. Buckey and her husband, Charles Buckey III, of Waldorf, Md., and Michael J. Emrick and his wife, Joan, of Ocean View; 11 grandchildren, John Renfroe IV, James Renfroe, Christina Troxell, Ashley Long, Jeffrey Emrick, Lindsay Matthai, Jonathan Martin, Rebecca Wheeler, Charles Buckey IV, Nicole Buckey and Amanda Buckey; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas M. Kah of Wapakoneta, Ohio.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Del., where the rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Del. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to St. Ann Catholic Church; 691 Garfield Pkwy.; Bethany Beach, DE 19930.
