High-school threats not believed to be credible

The Indian River School District was taking safety precautions on Tuesday, but officials said they do not believe there to be a credible threat to its Dagsboro high school.

“Rumors of an alleged incident at Indian River High School on Tuesday are being investigated by the Delaware State Police. We do not believe there is any credible threat to the school at this time, but the investigation is ongoing. The school day will proceed as normal.

“However, as a precautionary measure, additional police officers will be stationed at the school today,” according to IRSD spokesperson David Maull.

Evidently, last weekend, people circulated rumors on social media that there would be a shooting at the school on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

IR students were coming back from a long weekend, due to a teacher in-service day on Friday and Presidents Day on Monday.
