Don’t look now, but Dagsboro is starting to boom

Dagsboro appears to be a town on an economic upswing.

Businesses including Porto, Dagsboro Days and Jayne’s Reliable have joined the Clayton Theatre as stalwarts of the downtown area, and other new small businesses appear to be making a mark. The highway commercial district also appears to be making some serious strides.

On Monday, March 18, the Dagsboro Town Council reviewed and unanimously approved a proposed ordinance amendment to allow for a brew-pub to be constructed in the Savannah Square Shopping Center along Route 113. This was in response to a request made by Brown Brothers Brewing.

“We are applying to have the first brewery in Dagsboro,” explained Zach Brown, of Ocean View. “... We feel this would be a great addition to the businesses in the town of Dagsboro, because we will offer a nice ambience and a good setting for people that enjoy craft beer to visit and socialize and things like that.”

Yes, things are moving forward in Dagsboro.

Between this effort and Delmarva Billiards, at Clayton Crossing, the social scene is growing in town, and the retail shops and restaurants appear to be adding to the entire experience for Dagsboro residents and visitors alike.

Millsboro has been growing quickly to the north, and the beach towns have grown to the east. It looks like Dagsboro is now jumping in on this growth with both feet.
