American Legion Posts 28, 24 sit atop OTS standings

With nearly a third of their 22nd season in the books, the Olde Tymers Softball (OTS) League finds itself with a two-way tie atop the circuit’s standings.

Both American Legion Post teams — Posts 28 and 24 — had identical 7-2 records as of press time on Wednesday, June 5. Atlantic Ortho and Ocean View Family Restaurant followed at 6-3.

According to the league’s website, its 30-game regular season runs through Aug. 22. After that, the double-elimination playoffs will take place beginning Aug. 27.

Additionally, the inaugural class of OTS Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at the first annual banquet on Saturday, Aug. 17, at American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard, from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost for the banquet is $15 per person or $25 for a couple, with a cash bar available. The first-ever class Hall of Fame includes Gary Meredith (being inducted posthumously), Harriet Mair, Don “Ducky” Clements, Tom Harvey, Bob Schaffer, Bob “Bubba” Stack, Frankie Williams, Roger Howard and Jimmy Wright.
