Thanks for support of summer fundraisers

Editor:

The Friends of the Millsboro Library wants to thank the community for making two fundraisers so successful.

In mid-July, the Friends held its annual Book Sale. Volunteers sold thousands of books the community had generously donated. Many buyers came to what many say is “the most organized book sale in the area.” On the final day of the sale, buyers took advantage of the $5 “Bag Sale” to fill bag(s) with as many hard cover books and paperbacks, audio books, DVDs and CDs as they could fit inside.

In August, the community supported the Friends’ Dine-and-Donate fundraiser at Wayback Burgers in Millsboro. Thanks to the generosity of the restaurant, 15 percent of the proceeds from the meals served were given to the Friends.

The Friends is grateful to those who supported these successful fundraisers. Proceeds from both sales will be used for the 2020 Children’s Summer Program and for purchases of much-needed items which are not normally covered in the library’s budget, such as baby changing stations recently installed in the restrooms.

The community is invited to join the Friends at its meetings on the third Thursday of each month, September through June, at 6:30 p.m., in the library at 217 W. State Street, across from the Millsboro Little League field. Be part of the Friends and be part of a successful community group.
