Trap Pond Fall Festival to feature carnival fun

CHEER’s 2019 Trap Pond Fall Festival will have a carnival atmosphere. Taking place at Trap Pond State Park, east of Laurel, on Friday, Sept. 6, games and activities will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Leading the carnival entertainment at the picnic will be DJ Sky Brady, who will provide music and antics throughout the day. Healthcare professionals will be available to man tables providing informational materials and hand-outs. A highlight of the day will be the traditional fried chicken lunch, accompanied by ham, potato salad, green beans and ice cream.

Tickets for the picnic cost $6 for seniors 60 or older, or $8 for those younger than 60. Tickets can be obtained by contacting Robin Greene at (302) 515-3063 or from a local CHEER activity center director. Admission to the park will be free. Trap Pond State Park is located approximately 5 miles east of Laurel, south of Route 24.

All proceeds from the Trap Pond Fall Festival will support CHEER’s Cooking for Sussex Seniors Kitchen Capital Campaign to build a new $1.6 million central kitchen.
