Smokey Hollow Bridal Show set to welcome brides, grooms and more
Attention, brides-to-be and engaged couples: Overwhelmed by the process of planning your wedding? Don’t know where to start?
Delaware Seaside Bride magazine, the Coastal Point’s sister publication, is here to help.
On Sunday, Nov. 3, Seaside Bride will co-host its 2019 bridal show. Once again, the show will be held at the Smokey Hollow wedding venue in Selbyville, with Barefoot Beach Bride as co-host.
Unlike last year’s show, admission to this year’s bridal show will be free. There’s another added benefit this year, according to Seaside Bride’s Susan Mutz: “We decided to spread a little love this year and invite our friends at Grass Roots Rescue to join us. Including your pets is very popular right now, and couples are being creative incorporating their pets in wedding-day festivities,” Mutz said.
In addition, Mutz said, brides who bring a pet food item to donate or monetary gift for Grass Roots Rescue will receive an additional entry for door prizes.
“Plus, we’ve got a few unique vendors who are bringing their expertise and one-of-a-kind services to the area. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Nestled in the countryside near Selbyville, a 10-minute drive from the Maryland and Delaware beaches, Smokey Hollow is a meticulously manicured 100-acre property.
“Smokey Hollow is the ideal ‘blank canvas’ to create your signature event,” said Smokey Hollow sales director Stephanie Brough.
In addition to a 4,900-square-foot “upscale” barn venue that can seat nearly 300 guests, Smokey Hollow also features gardens and a freshwater pond, Brough said, describing the gardens as “exquisite.”
Vendors at the Smokey Hollow Bridal Show are coming from all over southern Delaware, as well as the Ocean City, Md., and Salisbury, Md., areas. Guests at the show can sample cakes and other food while viewing a fashion show featuring bridal fashion from Downtown Bridal in Salisbury.
Taylor Stone of Barefoot Beach Bride, a wedding planning service in Ocean City, said the show will be a perfect opportunity to get some questions answered regarding vendors of all types.
“Being able to meet vendors face-to-face before booking them is rare, unless you have a consultation,” Stone said. “The bridal show allows you to see who you work with best to ensure your special day will be nothing short of perfect,” she said.
A few questions Stone said couples should be ready to ask vendors include: What are your rates? Do you have a specific style of work? What is your availability? Do you have any references I can reach out to?
Stone emphasized that even if a couple is well along in the planning process, they can still gain something by attending the show.
“You may meet a vendor you didn’t even know you needed,” she said. Say, a photo booth, for example. “Or, if you have a couple vendors picked out but are still looking for a DJ, a florist or a baker, this would be the perfect place for you,” Stone said.
The Smokey Hollow Bridal Show will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. Smokey Hollow is located at 37632 Lake Ridge Drive, Selbyville. Admission to the show is free.
