BREAKING NEWS: OVPD, DEA arrest four in Ocean View drug-sales investigation

 

The Ocean View Police Department announced on Tuesday that they had, in a joint effort with the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), arrested four individuals on numerous drug-related charges this week as a result of a lengthy investigation into unlawful drug sales in Ocean View and surrounding areas.

Officers from the South Bethany Police Department, Rehoboth Beach Police Department and Delmar Police Department assisted in the investigation, noted OVPD Chief Ken McLaughlin.

In response to numerous complaints from the community regarding suspected drug activity, he said, officers from the Ocean View Police Department initiated a criminal investigation with the assistance of the DEA. The investigation, he said, focused on two specific residences — one on Meadow Lane in the Country Village neighborhood in Ocean View, and the second on Yacht Basin Road just outside of the corporate limits of Ocean View.

On Nov. 21, McLaughlin reported, police executed search warrants at both the Meadow Lane and Yacht Basin Road locations. As a result of the search warrants, he said, a total of four subjects were arrested, as well as an assortment of suspected drugs, suspected drug paraphernalia, two motor vehicles and suspected drug money seized.

At the Meadow Lane location, police seized 35.2 grams of suspected cocaine, 2.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine and $1,205 suspected drug proceeds.

Arrested were:

• 48-year-old James Showell of Ocean View, on charges of Possession of Cocaine Tier V (a felony); unlawful to knowingly operate or attempt to operate a clandestine laboratory (a felony); manufacture, delivers, or possess with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance (a felony); and maintaining a Drug Property (a felony). He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a cash bail of $33,000.

• 48-year-old Kimberly Morgan of Ocean View, on charges of Possession of Cocaine Tier V (a felony); unlawful to knowingly operate or attempt to operate a clandestine laboratory (a felony); manufacture, delivers, or possess with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance (a felony); maintaining a Drug Property (a felony); and possession of crack cocaine (a misdemeanor). Morgan was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a cash bail of $34,000.

• 62-year-old Teresa Skeens of Ocean View, on charges of Possession of Cocaine Tier V (a felony); unlawful to knowingly operate or attempt to operate a clandestine laboratory (a felony); manufacture, delivers, or possess with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance (a felony); and maintaining a drug property (a felony). Skeens was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a cash bail of $33,000.

At the Yacht Basin Road location, police seized 67 grams of suspected cocaine, 1,270 individual bags of suspected heroin totaling approximately 19 grams and $1,150 in suspected drug proceeds.

Arrested at that location was 37-year-old Antwain Johnson. He was charged with Possession of Cocaine Tier V (a felony); Possession of Heroin Tier V (a felony); two counts of manufacture, delivers, or possess with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance (a felony); and maintaining a drug property (a felony). Johnson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a cash bail of $43,000.
