Aline M. ‘Tate’ Taylor, 82

Aline M. “Tate” Taylor, 82, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at home on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019. She was born in Millsboro, Del., on April 7, 1937, daughter of the late John E. Jones and the late Viola B. (Donaway) Jones.

She worked for more than 20 years at J&P Food Market, for John and Pauline Rickards, who became an extension of her family. Taylor then opened Tate’s Loving Care, the home daycare she operated for 19 years before her retirement in 2000.

Taylor loved being around children, and all of her daycare children were like her grandchildren. On average, she watched nine children a day and would always cook them a homemade meal. Christmas was also her favorite time of the year, as she would always hold a Christmas party for the daycare children. She will be fondly remembered for her excellent baking and cooking skills. She will be remembered for her delicious fudge and other treats that she baked and gave out during the holidays. Her laugh was unmistakable and contagious, and will be sorely missed by all those that loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl J. Taylor, in 2017. She is survived by her three children, Connie Cooper and her husband, Tom, of Dagsboro, Del., Butch Taylor and his wife, Sherry, of Seaford, Del., and Debbie Daisey and her husband, Tom, of Millsboro; three grandchildren, Chad Taylor of Millsboro, Brandon Taylor of Stevensville, Md., and Jessee Taylor of Centerville, Md.; a sister, Delores McClintock of Roxana, Del.; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with funeral service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, Del. Interment will follow at Millsboro (Del.) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice; 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
