Betty Bernice (Jackson) Hall, 87

Betty Bernice (Jackson) Hall, 87, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at the Cadia Healthcare Renaissance nursing home. She was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Millsboro, to the late Samuel Jackson and Agnes Wright Jackson. She married Everett L. Hall Sr. on April 1, 1952.

Hall was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and worked in the dining hall for many years, helping to prepare the chicken-and-dumpling dinners. She loved to clean and kept an immaculate home. Hall loved country music, watching TV — especially “Everybody Loves Raymond” — and talking on the phone with her best friend, Doreen Jackson. She was a strong, independent, self-sufficient, tough woman and a fighter during her prolonged illness.

In addition to her parents, Hall was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and by six brothers, Stanley Thompson of Bridgeton, N.J., William Jackson, Robert Jackson, George Jackson, Bruce Jackson and Samuel Benson Jackson.

She is survived by three children, Glendon L. Hall and his wife, Bonnie, of Millsboro, Marabella Hitchens of Millsboro, and Everett L. Hall, Jr. and his wife, Haven, of Del Air, N.J.; five grandchildren, Brian Hall, Leia Nichols, William Hitchens Jr., Asa Hall and Ava Green; five great-grandchildren, Alexa Hitchens, Emoni Hitchens, Cyrus Hall, Owen Nichols and Wyatt Nichols; a great-great grandchild, Jordyn Hitchens; a sister, Blenda Wright; and two uncles, Clarence Warren and Layman Jackson.

A funeral service was to be held Jan. 2, 2020, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del., officiated by the Rev. C. Claudia Waters. Burial was to follow, at Harmony Cemetery in Millsboro. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
